22 weeks today

I get weekly updates in my email telling me what is going on inside with #3.. this is the one from today...
At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.

Oh Lord the memories this brings back.
I was only 23 weeks along when the twins were born.... they were only 11 inches and just over 1 lb a piece. And yes, they looked like miniature newborns... just as beautiful and just as remarkable as a 7 lb baby.... just so much more fragile.

It is amazing the difference a few weeks make when we are at this point in a pregnancy... like right now, at 22 weeks... I don't think the baby would be born alive, but if it did, it would definitely be quite a struggle for it... I know for a fact at 23 weeks, they are but more than likely wouldn't even survive with heroic measures... then just a week later at 24 weeks, babies have such a bigger chance... amazing what a difference 2 weeks can make.

Pray for all those who have been sucked into this crappy two week phase didn't come out the other side.
