Movie Friday

Every Friday we have movie Friday where the boys can watch movies all day long... they don't get to during the week, so we leave the "learning" for Monday thru Thursday and being lazy and watching movies on Friday..
Of course it keeps them occupied, so I get to get some stuff done... Playing with my juicer has taken up most of the morning as I made Strawberry Balsamico and Strawberry cream cheese.
I have never seen so many mason jars in my fridge.

Of course, every now and then D will come look at me with the look, and I have to say "Everyone knows who you are..." and he says "woooooo-deeee". THANK YOU very much Toy Story 2.

J worked from home all day yesterday... he is official now, and it went surprisingly well. The boys really are doing ok with it.
This is what his new lunch break looks like on Fridays...

Enjoy your weekend..
I am going back to being lazy for the day... or making some more stuff.. haven't decided.

Lots of Things

First off, I hope everyone had a great Christmas! We did. Santa was wonderful to us all this year!
Oh, you want an update on how G reacted when he saw the train table Santa brought him??
He walked into the living room, opened his arms up as wide as can be and yelled out with a gasp "TRAIN!"

We won't go into how much that deceptiveness scares to bajeebees out of me.

Christmas was great and it was fun seeing the boys react to Santa's presents.

G has figured out clothes boxes already and tends to toss them with a 'clothes' sigh.
We will have to work on that.
But they had a great Christmas and was spoiled as usual.
So were J and I.

Also, my only baby girl in this house, had a birthday yesterday. Sasha was the first of her litter born Dec. 29th 6 years ago. 8 weeks later, she was J's Valentine's present for our first Valentines as a married couple. I hate to think that she is over middle aged for her breed, eventhough she still acts like a pup. I love her very much and can't wait to spend another 6 years with her.

We went and watched Marley and Me on Christmas Day.
I bawled like a big fat baby, and came home and hugged my pups... then cried some more.
Then I thanked God for giving us these pups to help teach the boys things a good dog can. Responsibility, empathy, gentleness, playfulness, boundaries... and so much more.
I recommend seeing it... I still liked the book better, but the movie was wonderful.

Oh my knees

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving long weekend.

We spent it putting in about 270 sq.ft. of ceramic tile and 520 sq.ft. of hardwood flooring. Jealous? Don't be. So while J and I pulled up linoleum, scraped adhesive, tiled, grouted, pulled up old hardwood and carpet, scraped more adhesive, popped carpet crap off the floor, laid the hardwood, cut, cut, and more cuts, and then put down new toe-molding, Nana and granddaddy helped out by keeping the boys and Ka-ka and Pops called continuously on stand-by offering to help... all of which was greatly appreciated.

We totally underestimated Murphy's Law.
We totally underestimated our trust in MLGW to keep our electricity going. (for some reason, our neighborhood decided to have a couple of outages for hours at a time.
and
We totally underestimated our ages and how they would play out...

I totally underestimated how bad of shape my knees are really in.

Back story:
6th grade - first knee surgery on right knee. Bone spurs and cartilage removal. Up and going in a few months and not may problems from then on.

16th birthday...
I got my license and from the drivers license place, dropped off my dad, picked up my best friend and went straight to our basketball game... got put in, and 8 seconds into my playing time, went for a lay up and SNAP. Left knee. Completely torn ACL, PCL, MCL, and partially torn cartilage. Surgery, missed softball season, finally driving again (I had a 5 speed) after 2 months, and catching in softball again after 5 months of physical therapy.

17 years old - Left knee surgery #2. Softball size piece of scar tissue built up inside knee and rest of cartilage removed. Up and going again within a month. This was caused by one lone softball game... in east Tennessee... my parents basically carried me off the field. I had never been in this much pain.

Since, I have not had many problems. I quit all the ball playing when I was 19 and my activity level has dropped quite a bit since.

Then this weekend came.
And I had to stay on my knees for 4 days basically. 18 hours straight on Saturday actually. (6am to midnight).

Have you ever been in so much pain, that you shiver.. like you are cold, but not cold, just in pain?

yea

That makes it all so much better

With D and G both going through this "OMGAREYOUKIDDINGMERIGHTNOW, HAVEYOULOSTYOURMIND" stages at the same time...

Things can get somewhat.. frazzled with me.

There are days I know J just dreads to come home.. not knowing what the day has brought me and subsequently brought him at the end of his "JOB" (I so channeled Bill Engvall there... "you know what happened at THIS house today while you were at your so called "JOB")... hehe

But I digress.

I see it in J's face sometimes when things I consider, little, happened and he goes all daddy Kung Fu on whatever it is. Like last night, I know the dogs are hovering around the table during supper.. I mean, they are use to the boys feeding them various things they don't want.
The only thing my picky eater G wanted last night for dinner was his bread... and he insisted on going to the living room with J (since he was done eating) and all he wanted to take was his bread... he got down off the chair, clutching his bread, and wham
there was a dog in his face
bread in dogs face
dog assumed he was being fed bread
dog ate bread
G threw a tantrum
J screamed
"PHOENIX.YOUUUUU.BASTARD! GET OUTSIDE, NOW (whack) NOW! OUTSIDE."
dog went outside yet satisfied with a bite of bread
J continues to mumble
"taking a babies bread.. that is just wrong"

I laughed my butt off.
J didn't appreciate it.

But to me, it was a little thing.

During the day, most of it is revolved around putting kids in the corner, listening to fits, fights, and then NOT sleeping in the monitor. By the end of the day, my nerves are shot, my attitude is not too perky, and just a run to Walgreens is like a dream vacation.

Today started like one in the same.
On one of the many rounds of corner time, I get the boys out of the corner and they have to listen to why they were put there and tell me they won't do it again and give me a hug and a kiss while I tell them how much I love them.

One instance today got me.
I was getting G out of the corner
"Do you know why you got in trouble?"
"YEP!"
"Because you got up on the cabinet, didn't you. That is a nono! If you get on the cabinet again, you will go back to the corner. Do you understand?"
"Stand"
before I get "I love you baby with all my heart" out of my mouth, he starts to hug me and whispers in my ear..
"Loe you mommy"

It has made for the best day.

Weekend Wrap up

Well, we had a busy but nice weekend. Saturday I help a friend move while J kept the boys, then we all went to my brother's house to help him celebrate his 31st birthday. Nana and Granddaddy took the boys to their house from there and J and I stayed to hang out. We had a good time. Sunday, J and I slept in and then met up with his cousin Amanda and her husband Jeff. It was really nice to see them and give them time with the boys since my parents met up with us for lunch. Poor babies were so tired. They went to bed for a nap immediately after lunch and slept until 6 last night. And believe it or not, when 8 hit, it wasn't hard to get them back to bed for the night. Now before I left to help move, I discovered a few things "the boys" do while I am away and it is starting to explain why the boys are the way they are.

Enough to break a heart... and a wedding!

I know.. another wedding, right?! lol.
Here's the dealio.. my uncle had a wedding date set of 11/1/08. All Saint's Day... they picked it because they thought it was somewhat ironic... moving on..
Ok.. so they are getting married in November in a small ceremony in downtown Memphis in a little house/chapel where they can invite like 20 some people then we are going to Paulette's for a reception that their friends have booked and planned already.
Then came Wednesday and they came by where we were price stuff for a garage sale and let us know "Hey, btw, we are getting tomorrow at 3:30 down at juvie hall." (that is where my uncle works)... "My buddy, Judge so and so, is going to marry us."

jaw drop

"Cool deal".

Welcome to the family Nikki.

So, J has gone out of town again. Only overnight, but he sat down with G last night and explained how he would not see him until like Tuesday night. G didn't think anything about it until this morning when Dada was not here to say bye to or watch leave or NUTTIN'!!!
What do you do??
You claw at the garage door and look underneath because if you cry loud enough or claw long enough.. things will eventually come your way, right?

How about if you scream DADA loud enough.. he ought to come through, right?

Surely it doesn't take that much longer than the inital 45 minutes!, right?

Weekend

Well, we had a very busy weekend, but it was great.
First, J and I had our 6th wedding anniversary... Here is a pic of us 10 years ago.. this was the first pic ever taken of us... Goodness, we look young...

Excuse my hairup, sweaty look.. this was right after a ball game.

How did we celebrate?? Well, we officially won't celebrate until Ron White comes to the Grand Casino on September 13th. But, we still had a good one spending time with Pops, Kaka, the boys and going to the Delta Fair.
The boys had a blast. G rode all the rides he could and D was pretty content NOT riding the rides.. good thing since he was still a little too short.
Of course they both rode the horses and fed the goats and such, and of course LOVED it.

Of course, for some reason, I was sick most of the weekend. Don't know why, but anyone who knows me knows I don't require that much sleep.. of course this weekend I couldn't get enough. I was up most of the night Saturday puking so much of Sunday for me was spent sleeping, then Monday, I slept some more after lunch and J was still gracious enough to let me sleep in every morning. ok.. enough of that.

Did you have a good weekend?

hmmmmmm?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY and updates.

HAPPY BIRHTDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
HAPPY BIRHTDAY TO YOU!!!!
We love you babe.

So I got the results of the evaluation and it looks like G is accepted into the program... but not because of delay. Out of 5 areas, he had a 15% delay in one area... that is it. NO other delays, but the records they got from the doctors showed that at one time he was diagnosed "Failure to Thrive". Because of this, he is accepted.
Let me clarify something. He is healthy as a horse, very. He just has a hard time gaining weight. When he was very little, like months old, he stopped gaining... for months. At 3 months old, he was still just 8 lbs after a month of weight stall. When this happened he was diagnosed with 'failure to thrive' and they began to run test for Cystic Fibrosis and such. He came up negative for all tests, rest assured.
I questioned whether or not to proceed with putting him into the program.. "if he is not delayed, then are we wasting our time". I mean, this is state funded.. and do we really want to be those people who can do it on their own and take advantage of state funded programs?
Then I talked to Nana and she said something "With as competitive as the world is, why are you going to take an opportunity away from him?"

Thoughts?

Boat Chunk

What a weekend guys... and girls.

My granny moved into her new house Saturday morning, I had a baby shower to go to Saturday morning and went straight from the shower to Granny's... spent all afternooon over there until about dinner time (us,that is 5), so when I got home, we played out in the pool.

Little did I know daddy and the boys have invented a new pool game... lets just call it boat chunk.

Step 1: find a float with handles

Step 2: count 1, 2, 3

Step 3: Chunk across the pool

These 3 boys (yes, J was included in that) are going to give me a early death.. or keep me young.. something.

Hope you all have a great day... like Nemo would say, "Just keep swimmin'"

Reminiscent

I miss my guys.

Monday, June 2, 2008

Ahhh, Monday

I hope everyone's weekend was good and your week is starting out good.

How was Pickwick??

That pretty much sums it up. I was so relaxed all weekend. I am also debating putting us in debt to buy a cabin up there I found (friend of a friend) that is amazing and is going well below market value for cabin of its size.. and it is brand new and fully furnished..

but I digress.

Also, I loved a relaxing weekend, but I missed all my boys.

J and the boys were playing in the living room
G takes off.. J assumes he has gone in his room to play...
about 5 minutes later, a naked G comes in with the part of the potty that holds everything and shows it to daddy...
It is full of poop and he is ready to flush it.

D hasn't used a booster seat since Friday.

It is good to come home.
